Cemetery Restrictions

Each cemetery has its own rules and regulations regarding which monument types it allows.

For example, some cemeteries will only allow for flat markers, others only Bronze memorial markers while allow any type of monument or memorial marker.

If you're unsure of what your cemetery's rules are, we are happy to help answer that for you. We work closely with all our local cemeteries and keep up to date regarding their policies and any changes.

Step 4: Select the type of Finish

There are several types of monument finishes to select from and our monument experts will help you make the best choice for yours.

Here are some of the finish options available:

  • Steeled: This is granite in its natural state without a polished finish
  • Polished: A highly reflective, smooth finish that magnifies the stone's natural appearance by illuminating the vibrant colors.
  • Sawn: The process of sawing leaves slight grooves, swirl marks and lines on the stone's surface, softening its natural traits.
  • Rock Pitch: A natural, jagged cleft-face design permeates this finish, with trimmed edges that create a rugged , yet defined effect throughout.

Step 5: Personalize your monument

There are a near endless ways to personalize a monument. And we will guide you through these options. The primary decisions will be regarding lettering, carving, and etching styles and graphics.

Lettering Options

Not all lettering styles work well with every color or in every situation. Our team of staff members will help guide you to the style that will work best for your memorial.

Carving Options

The same design can take on an entirely different look depending on the way the carvings are produced.

Etching Options

Both hand and laser etching can be done on black granite. Etchings do not show up well on other colors. We can also apply color to the etchings however, we offer no guarantee that it will stay vibrant indefinitely. Color is an industry-specific paint that is applied to the surface after the etching work has been completed and, just like any paint in outdoor elements, it can wear off over time.
